Can I use iPad while plugged in

It's perfectly fine to use it whilst the device is plugged in and charging. You should let it run down about once a month to keep the battery meter correctly calibrated, but other than that, any combination of charge / discharge is acceptable for modern devices such as this.

You actually don't want to fully discharge the iPad battery as you would other battery tech. They will last longer if you charge them more often. They stress and lose some of their ability to hold a charge with a full discharge cycle.

The iPad battery is Lithium-Polymer rather than NiCad. Apples does advise a complete charge/discharge cycle once a month for calibration purposes.

The full discharge cycle only calibrates the percent charged meter. It does nothing helpful to the battery itself.

Yep, that's what I said, for calibration purposes.

Just to be clear it calibrates the display, not the battery. I'm seeing people on other forums post that it resets the battery itself...

Yes you do. Apple advocates that just as do we. Not really sure why or what it does, but it should be done as Apple states.

On that note ~ OP, you have your answer ~ it is fine to use while charging so we will close this thread.
