Can't connect to imac with filbrowser

I have just purchased Filebrowser for the Ipad, I can't set it up to connect to my imac. I have tried all setting following the help files and still comes up with connection failed. What am I doing wrong I have switched on to use SMB typed the correct address and password.

You're trying to connect via WiFi on a local network?

Yes it is Wifi on Local network. It's supposed to be very easy to set up. I have read and done everything that is in the setup instructions.

What version of iOS do you have?

I am using IOS 5.
