Can't Drag Albums in iTunes

Does anyone know why I can't drag albums from my music library in iTunes onto my iPad? The only way to get music into my iPad seems to be to synch my entire music library.

When I click and drag, it has the little line through the album and it won't let me drop it onto the iPad.

I'm stumped by this one, I have owned an iPod Touch for years and never had this kind of a problem.

you have to turn off syncing and set that ipad to manage music and movies manually.
