Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Regarding your question are you within range of a wifi connection? FaceTime will only work over wifi, whereas iMessage will work over 3G and wifi on your iPad. Check to see if you can open Safari to see if you can get Internet.

Give these steps are try and see how you go -
Do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now, if not a restart is in order.

Restart: Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will start again. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running smoothly. Now see if it is operating. If not a reset is the next step.

Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. This is a reset.

When an App or your iPad begin to behave strangely these are the first steps you should do to rectify it. Let us know how you go, good luck!!

Thank you , Leelai for the help. However these steps did not work to solve my issues. I am still trying to troubleshoot. Once again, thank you.

As you know I had a similar problem, so I ended up calling apple support. They diagnosed and repaired my problem in ten minutes! It ended up being a wrong DNS address configured in my wifi network settings. I can't say that is your problem but it might be. Just go to apple support web page and set up a time for them to call you and your problem will be fixed in no time!

I couldn't agree more. Everything else works fine I get the same network error message with iMessage. I've restored and updated.

Hi you need to change your network DNS settings. Go to settings, wifi, then tap the blue arrow on your wifi provider, then change the DNS settings to 8.8.4.4

That should sort the problem. Worked for me. Let me know how you get on

Actually, I changed the DNS number to 8.8.8.8 and it works flawlessly! Figured it out a few days after I posted my original post on here. Months later and its all good. Thanks though :)
