Can't synch programs downloaded directly

As a new owner of an ipad2 I would appreciate some help in synching a program that I have downloaded directly to my computer.

I obtained it from the maker's web site and not from the ITunes store.

I have added it to the applications section of Itune's library on my computer which quite happily recognizes the application's avatar.

Although the computer and iPad synch whenever I connect them I cannot find the program's avatar on the iPad.

I have noticed that there is not a button on the application page of the Itune's library which allows me to manually synch an individual application.

Am I missing something.

All apps must be installed thru itunes from the itunes store.

Unless your jailbroken, which I think means you can install thru Cydia, but I'm not so sure about that as I'm not jailbroken.
