As far as culinary endeavours go, a restaurant called Zombie Café might struggle to get off the ground, especially one that serves "mystery meat", but as far as iPad and iPhone games go, well that’s another matter entirely, especially when it comes from Capcom, which pretty much wrote the book on zombie games (Resident Evil, anyone?). Capcom’s first foray into free social iOS games, Smurfs’ Village, released towards the end of last year, was a roaring success, so you’d expect Zombie Café to do equally well.
In the game, you get to run a café that is staffed by your own zombie minions. In addition to managing a menu, preparing up to 50 recipes and decorating your café with more than 100 items, player will have to deal with the problems inherent with having a wait staff comprising undead zombies. You have to be careful not to work them too hard, for example, as if they get too tired they’ll start trying to eat the customers, and then your star rating will really plummet! The main advantage of having zombie members of staff though, is that if the café next door starts doing a little too well, you can always instruct your workers to attack the neighbours and steal their recipes! As with Smurfs’ Village, although Zombie Café is a free app, you’re encouraged to buy a special toxin as an in-app purchase to expedite the growth of your café. Sounds like Capcom has got another hit on its hands here as its already getting some great reviews in the App Store.
