A new interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook, uncovered some tantalizing new information. Apparently a new version of the Mac operating systems will be incorporating several interesting feats borrowed from the software that powers Apple’s smashing mobile devices: the iPhone 4 and the iPad.
Tim Cook has been know for his conviction that the iPad business will end up “cannibalizing†laptops and desktop computers and this new statement only makes things more clear. The new version of the OS X called “Mountain Lion†evidently highlights Apple’s take on things. The company apparently foresees a future where the mobile, laptop and desktop fields become interconnected. Apple strives to be the catalyst for that.
"We see that people are in love with a lot of the apps and functionality here. So, anywhere where it makes sense, we are going to move that over to Macâ€, stated mister Cook.
So Mountain Lion will be bringing a whole set of features to users who want to see iPhone/iPad related stuff everywhere they turn. The new Mac iOS mash up will bring Apple’s messaging service, notifications app and a gaming center. The OS also comes integrated in Apple’s cloud service which enables apps to be synchronized (mail, calendar, contacts, documents and a whole host of other things).
A new feature has been added to Mountain Lion, because we know that Apple loves to deliver surprises. It is called AirPlay Mirrorring. Thanks to it, now users can stream digital content, which includes HD video and various TV shows. The Mac video content is sent onto an HDTV via Apple TV.
