Charger from iPad 1 to charge iPad 2?

Can I use a charger from an original iPad (1) to charge my iPad 2?
We have some of those chargers at work - so if that would work, I wouldn't need to carry my iPad 2 charger with me.

BUT, only reply if your are SURE that it will SAFELY work.
I don't want to risk ruining anything.

It uses the same type of charger and, you should be able to charge it.

I've seen at least two articles the last couple of days that say it will work fine. Reliable sites like AppAdvice, TUAW, and MacWorld, though I can't remember exactly which off the top of my head.

Stumbled across one of the articles after I went back to reading my RSS feeds.

Note when they talk about the guy who had problems with his cable it's a mechanical-locking-in-place problem, not a problem with charging or damaging the iPad.
