connect to protected wifi networks

Dear All, I have an ipad 3, with ios6, and since a couple of weeks I am experiencing problems in connecting to password protected wifi networks. I type in correct passwords, the letters and nums are displayed correctly, I double check, but it now always comes back that the password is incorrect. It is happening consistently. To open networks, where no password is required, it connects without problems. Please help, since I do not want to leave my network open and cannot use the ipad in Hotels, etc.. Thanks, Eckhard
