I bought a mini plug to RCA cable, similar to the Radio Shack but better quality and much cheaper through Amazon. However, the sound is disappointing, due presumably to the undistinguished DAC chip in the iPad. Lossless rips of CDs sound tinny and two-dimensional compared with playing the actual CD through my $45 Magnavox DVD player. Interestingly, 128 bit AAC rips sound little different from lossless.
Of course, you probably won't notice the difference if your standard is listening to mp3 through an iPod and ear buds.
