Hi all. Long time no speak. Today, for the first time in ages, I have checked my Contacts app for an email address. It was absolutely blank! All my contacts have disappeared. Fortunately, I have Contacts Sync so found what I needed on there. List faith in the native Contacts app so won't be using that again. Unfortunately, I cannot delete it as it serves no purpose any more. Anyone else had this issue?

I didn't have this problem, so no experience there. :)

Did you enable "Hide All Contacts"? It can be found in the Contacts app, at the top left tap "Groups", if it is there. The app will show all the accounts that sync your contacts to the app. If they're not check marked, that's the reason why they all disappeared. Choose "Show All Contacts" in that case.

Hey, lifesaver! Nice to hear from you as always. I have checked the Hide all contacts and everything else on there with no joy but thanks anyway. I will keep checking to see what has happened but so far I have run out of ideas.
Big hugs,
Mike

Just for information, this is what I see when I open the app

Nice to see you again!

Have you tried the usual first steps when a problem presents itself...... Closing the app completely and then relaunching it, a restart and if still no joy a reset of your iPad?

Try them and see if your contacts reappear, if not then we will need to dig deeper.

LOL

Groups wouldn't be there if there's no account or just one account with your contacts.
What do you see when you tap it? Something like this?

Hi J. A., I get something like that but it shows me one contact with an iCloud account. I can send it you in a pm as I do not wish to show it all on here, no offence to anyone.

I don't know if it's possible, but you can try.

Sorry, not possible. Still we have tried. I will keep banging my head over this. Fortunately, as I said, I use the Contacts Sync app which has everything on there, thankfully, otherwise I would be in a real mess.

Something weird has just happened. I have opened the Contacts app and to my amazement it shows one, I repeat one only, of my lost contacts and details. Any ideas anyone please? This is very strange.

It sounds very strange.

Here's another idea:
In Mails, Contacts, Calendars disable Contacts for every account you use. When asked to keep or delete them, keep them - whatever that means in your case. Wait for a few minutes and then turn them all on again.

J. A., liebchen, you are a genius! I went into settings as you advised and when I was checking all my accounts, Contacts on each one had been off! I know I have not altered these settings so the only mystery that remains is why it happened. However, I believe that because Terms & Conditions on one if the iCloud accounts needed reviewing. This popped up and it was the first account on the list. Whatever, all is now back to normal. A big lesson learned thanks to you my friend.
Best regards,
Mike
