I have paid for the tethering package from att.I have no problem tethering my laptop. I just plug my laptop into my iphone3g and it works. Well, you can't do that with an ipad2, so I have done what was suggested and I still can't get it to work.
I have wifi at home, I disable it on the phone, just use 3g and it works. At work, I disable my jobs wifi on my phone but it won't connect to my ipad. I think I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

I was told by Apple that I can not get a wi-fi connection from my ipod hot spot. What is the use in having a hot spot if it does not perform like a wi-fi connection?

Are you saying that you are trying to use a hotspot on your iPad2? Because the iPad2 does not come with that ability, only the iPad3 and above.

Yes Marilyn, I am trying to tether my iPhone3g, with the tethering package through att, with my ipad2 wifi.

Check out this page from Apple. Wifi tethering is not available with the iPhone 3G. Only USB and Bluetooth tethering are available.

Try the Bluetooth option. It should work. I'm using Bluetooth right now, just to try it out.

P.S., I'm using Bluetooth tethering between my iPad 2 and my iPhone right now. I wanted to see if it worked. I was using my WiFi only iPad mini when I made the original post before this edit.
