Hi Recently I sold my Ipad mini to a friend. I erased all data and settings, and I created new apple id for her, and set up the ipad for her. The process went well, and she can now use the ipad for Internet, Emails, App store etc. However, when she installed a few games, the game did not start from the Level 1. She loved playing Jewel Mania, Bubble mania, and other TeamLava games on my ipad, and this was the main reason she bought my ipad mini. As I have played these games quite a few months, I had reached high levels (70 or 80 or upper). Of course, she can play their lower levels, but she would like to erase my achievement and start all over again as a new player. She has not used Itunes on her Laptop yet. I tried to erase data and setting one more time, and set up and installed games again, but the data still remained same. I searched solution on the web, but could not find any answer.

I appreciate it if anyone could solve this game trouble.

I know very little about games but the first thing I would do is open the Settings App and going to the Game Centre tab to see if her Apple ID or your Apple ID is in there?

It kind of sounds like you chose to restore from a backup when using the Erase All Contents and Settings. This would put back pretty much everything you had on the iPad, including gaming data (depending on the game). To prepare an iPad for a new owner you need to do a clean restore, no backups.

Yes, that means all the apps are gone, but apps are associated with the Apple ID that bought them and would eventually need the old Apple ID to update or re-download them (if deleted) anyway.

If you did do a clean restore and downloaded her game apps directly from the App Store, I have no idea what is going on.

Hi Thank you for replies. As I did not update the OS for this Ipad mini, the OS is still 6 not 7. So her ipad does not have Game Center option in Setting. I updated larger Ipad to OS7, and at the moment I do not like it. May I need to get used to the new OS7.

I used Erase All Data and Settings, so when I started it was like a new Ipad. I created a new Apple ID and every data was clean. There was no installed apps (except basic apps which were default). I found this fault only when I installed Bubble Mania, Bubble Bliz, and Jewel Mania. I think this fault only happened for TeamLava games. I installed a few more games for her, and they looked ok (means there were no previous data). Maybe I should ask TeamLava.

Still, if anybody got any idea, please let me know. Thank you, again.

If the Game Center settings (Apple ID) are not in the Settings app, they will be in the Game Center app. Open the app to see if it has somehow gotten your ID. Though I'm guessing not. If I remember right tapping on the Avatar on the main page will give you sign in/out options. Or maybe not. I didn't do much with Game Center.

Since it only affects certain games, I'm wondering if those games sync through something other than Game Center; like some apps use FaceBook. I can't imagine how those apps would have gotten your ID, but there should be a setting somewhere in the app to sign out. This would be a completely different ID than your Apple ID or Game Center user.

I'm going to look up the apps you mentioned. If I see anything that rings a bell, I'll come back and babble on some more. ;)

Ok, I checked a couple of the TeamLava games. It looks like they (at least some of them) link through FaceBook. This may be the probable vector. Just signing out of FaceBook in the app probably is not enough. You'd need to sign out, then delete the app and re-install.

App data can stick around for a while, so it would be a good idea to restart the iPad before re-installing the app.

From your description of how you set up the iPad, I have no idea how the games could have ended up synced to your FaceBook account, if they are. On the other hand at least one or two members have reported they have game apps that sync with FaceBook, and that somehow they are not the only player of that game.

So it may be purely a FaceBook problem. If the game is also playable on a computer in FaceBook, have your friend check there for issues. And you should too.

This is all I can think of, at least for now.

Good luck.

I have FaceBook account, but hardly used. When I played Jewel, I always played it as a guest. Thank you for your reply.

I had an answer from Storm8 Support at last. "Thank you for your email. I'm sorry, but we currently do not have a Reset option in our games. I apologize for the inconvenience. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. Have a good day!"

This is definitely a serious fault of the app. Or this could be a Apple fault that "erase" does not erase some data.

I'm pretty sure that erase work with Apple. This would be a huge security issue and it's unlikely to have been missed by the many security specialists (and bloggers) that keep a close watch on them.
