Creating a sound recording/radio report

We would like our children to be able to record a simple radio report and be able to add some simple sound effects of other sound recordings to the main recording using a simple drop and drag visual timeline sort of app. Am considering sound slate which has good extra sounds but am not sure i can record my own voice in and then record me playing all the sound clips together? Anyone use it know about it?

Anyone know of anything good?

Is an alternative an extra app that will record what ever sound is being made in an app such as sound slate? Anyone know one?
