I have an iPad that has colored streaks on the left lower corner of the display. It is out of warranty by one month. I suspect it was dropped.

I took a trip to the closest Apple Store to find I needed an appointment for tech support. Since it was a distance and we needed to beat the traffic, I left! Too bad I was treated this way. Steve Jobs, we need you now.

What cost am I looking at for the repair? Is it worth it, or should I just buy a new iPad?

Thanks.

FYI,

I read on this Forum that Apple Stores will replace defective iPads, once, out of warranty. This is true!
I made an appointment for last Wed. They replaced my iPad without me yelling, screaming or crying.
That is service.

So glad you had that outcome, Apple really is a great Company. Thanks for sharing!!

I would disagree here as I was not that lucky and they charged me a good amount because they said that I had damaged my lovely ipad.

What was wrong with your iPad, was it a defect or damaged

Yes - you'll see that most Members have had damaged iPads replaced free-of-charge as a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity...

FYI, I got it replaced regardless of the damage. I told them that I dropped it!
This is the reason I am reporting my success.

Just got back from the Broomfield, CO store and they would not replace my broken screen IPad. Said Apple was cracking down on them doing it. They were very nice and apologetic about it but bottom line is I had no luck.
