Dark Horse comics announced via its blog today that its long-awaited Dark Horse Digital iPad and iPhone app and store will launch on April 27. The app will be free to download, and will come complete with the first issue of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction already pre-loaded. Users will also be able to download the full first issues of Criminal Macabre, Abe Sapien: The Drowning, and Joss Whedon’s excellent Fray, completely free as well, and if Dark Horse gets enough people signing up for its newsletter at Dark Horse Digital Publishing - Coming Soon!, Umbrella Academy and Mass Effect will also be available to download for free. Even better, if you sign up, and happen to live in North America, you’ll be entered in a contest to win an iPad 2 and $100 Digital Store credit.
You can click the link below to see the full (and very long!) list of comics available at launch, which includes Mass Effect, Joss Whedon’s Serenity, Conan, Terminator, and Emily.
