Display show on Ipad

I purchase a VGA adapter for my IPad but it doesn't show my IPad screen. Is there any app to help show my iPad screen using a projector or TV? I want it to appear like the way I can see my laptop full display out.

You only get mirroring effectvwith the iPad 2 when using the adapter
