Hi
I ordered and paid for a new Ipad (gen3) for my neice in July this year and collected in store at PC World (uk). Unfortunately, it was stolen in a burglary at her friends house. I calimed from the insurance and was sent a gift card to go get another.

When she opened the new one, it has a different port for connecting the charger etc, i.e. not the same as the first one we bought. I now wonder if the wrong model was in the box for the original purchase???

The Model number on the box is correct (A1416), but the 'part number' doesn't seem to correspond to those listed by apple for ANY model!! Part number = MC705B/A

Any suggestions?

Thanks people

There are only two possible connectors...a 30pin connector and an 8-pin reversible lightning connector. One is wide the other is narrow. If you got the lightning connector, count your blessings because it means you got an iPad 4th gen. Be happy and quiet. :)

Go to apple.com and compare to the 4th iPad. Or the iPad mini or the iPhone 5 or the iPod Touch.

BTW, the part number you list is for the 16GB 3nd gen iPad.

After a bit more research, I had realised I now have the 4th gen.... to be honest though, the insurance claim card covered the price anyway , so all good.

Thanks again.
