Great prose! I am also hoping to hatch a Sapphire out of a very odd combo of Mountain and Rain.

Does anyone else re-name their dragons? In order to make them easier to find, I change the first letter of their name to match their "kind". So my Mountain dragon is called Moose and my Rain dragon is called Randie. It works for me but I need to be a little more creative with the names! Happy breeding everyone!

Good luck with your Sapphire hunt. I have been very lucky today and have 2 breeding from level 15 dragons.
When I first started the game I gave all my dragons names but when I reached 200 I found it far too difficult and I just have the type of dragon plus their number eg Rain4. This has helped me in my hibernation cave as I know when to sell the dragons and when to feed them.

I have renamed a few of my dragons. Not for any specific reason but some of my renamed dragons are:
My first sun dragon(and first epic) Kingsley
Second sun: Princeton
Moon: lulu
Panlong: aang
Apocalypse: alduin
Clover: charming
Sakura: tohru
That's just a short list that I can think of right off the top of my head.

About renaming; here is my method:

- when I hatch a dragon, I just let it go into the hibcave to get the points (not on my Lvl 45)
- during waiting - between my playgrounds (GC always take time to change from one to another) - I work with the dragons in the Hib.
- I only rename the ones I will save, all the others I sell
- I always rename them just "the sort" , f ex Moutain
- I try not to have more than 2 of each in the Hib (except the best ones )
- sometimes I do a more thorough examination of both the playground (via Colleseum) and the Hib, trying to get an even better view of what I have. Then I often sell of the surpluss.

Looks like I'm on the right track with renaming. What is the purpose of the hibernation cave? It just says it gives dragons a place to hide. If they do not earn money while there, why do you use it?

Before, you can not upgrade your Shrines to silver or gold with gems, you need to feed 50 dragons to level10 to turn into silver and 50 dragons to level15 to turn into gold. So this is the importance of Hibernation Cave... Once the dragons are fed to level10 you can store them in the Hibernation Cave and once the shrine you are working on turns silver you can take each dragon out one by one and feed it to level15 before selling/keeping it. This will help you save treats and money while trying to obtain the Gold Shrines.

But now you can easily upgrade your shrines, i think the purpose now is to prevents the necessity of selling off excess dragons and allows players to fill Habitats with the dragons they want to display in their parks, as less valuable dragons are moved to the Hibernation Cave.

Thank you both. That makes perfect sense. I am still only able to upgrade my dragons to level 10. I fear I have a long way to go.

I rename my dragons. I use eg: Rust = WM279Russ - WM for elements, 279 how many I have bred, and name. My Rust's are actually 289 cos there are 10 waiting to be sold

If I give one gem to you Jonew f example, and you do not return - you just leave it in the social box.
Next day I give Jonew a new gem, just because I am such a kind person

If you don't manage to get the Sapphire, the goal will be replaced with the goal for Opal next month. I'm trying for one myself for the goal and to expand my gem island some more. Good luck

Congrats on getting the Obsidian. It's not consider rare but uncommon hybrid than getting its counterpart Lava. It's really feels good getting the dragon you want.
