Edits of photos don't transfer over

I imported photos and edited them in the Photos App and saved them. However, when I put them on my computer using dropbox or Photo Transfer, the original unedited version of the photo is transferred and not the edited version. I can't figure out why that would be, as when I view the photos in the Photos App, they have the changes I made. Any help?

Dropbox saves the original, unedited version of an image from the Photos app.

However, if you use a different app to crop the image, Skitch, e.g., and save the cropped image to the Photos app, Dropbox will save that version as well. So you'd have two versions of the image in the app.
