To celebrate 25 years of US publication, Elle has launched a free iPad app, available from today. Every single page of the highly interactive app has been re-designed to take advantage of the iPad’s high-resolution screen, Multi-Touch navigation, mobility and connectivity. In addition to all of the magazine content, the app also includes exclusive extras such as videos and tips from the Elle editors, tap-to-shop functionality, daily horoscopes, and two new customizable features: the Elle Inspiration Board and Personal Stylist.
With the Inspiration Board, users can save their favourite items from each issue, kind of like a digital version of a cork board! The feature includes the ability to name and create multiple personalized inspiration boards and email them to friends, as well as sharing them on social networking sites.
The Personal Stylist feature deconstructs the magazine’s fashion content, enabling the user to create their own looks, starting with uploading a photo of their face to the Elle Personal Stylist, and then going on to swipe through all the products found in the front of the book, such as dresses, shoes, and accessories, to create their desired look. These custom looks can then be added to the Inspiration Board or shared.
“We don’t dictate a look, we let the user create something new,†said Elle Group design director Paul Ritter.
