Just as it did with Epic Games' first Infinity Blade game for iOS, Apple yesterday used Epic Games’ forthcoming Infinity Blade: Dungeons game to showcase the new iPad, and in particular its stunning Retina display. Epic Games has today released new details about the game, fresh from all the launch excitement. According to the developers, Infinity Blade: Dungeons is an entirely new adventure for iOS, set in the award-winning Infinity Blade universe, but taking place several thousand years before the events in the first two games in the series. In the game, the player takes on the role of an apprentice weaponsmith serving the Master of the Forge, who is sent out on a dangerous quest to forge the one weapon that the Deathless will come to fear the most – the Infinity Blade. Infinity Blade: Dungeons features a dynamic camera system that takes you in and out of battle, weapon crafting and exploration. It’s an innovative take on the age-old dungeon-crawling genre, while also expanding the Infinity Blade universe. And best of all, it uses the latest Unreal Engine technology from Epic. It looks simply awesome!
Infinity Blade: Dungeons will be released for iOS later this year.

“Just like Apple has raised the bar for mobile computing, the Infinity Blade franchise has continually re-defined expectations for mobile gaming,” said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps (@EpicActual). “With Infinity Blade: Dungeons we continue the tradition of melding exciting gameplay with beautiful, rich worlds powered by Unreal Engine technology; and Apple’s new iPad allows us to push the boundaries even further.”
