What's new

Everything to do with XMAS!

This year we will be having a traditional Christmas....in the desert that is. I heard there will be a real life nativity re-enactment with camels and all. 23 litres of wine being home brewed as I write. Now what to buy he wife for Christmas ? Just need a way to minimise the criticism when I get it wrong!!

As I always say, what can you get the woman who has it all and me too!!!

Trick question. If she has it all, you are included. But then again, so am I. Therefore, no woman has it all or she would also have us.

But what do you know, if you are fermenting 23 litres of wine, so you must be a wino. Smiley.

Remember, the more you do, the more mistakes you will make; the more mistakes you make, the more you will hear about it. If you decide not to do anything, there will be complaints. You cannot win so perhaps it is good you have all that wine.

A Festivus Miracle Awaits You.

We haven't had a report on GoPackGo's iPhone. Wasn't she supposed to get it Sunday?
I did get it Sunday. :D Best Buy Mobile had one 16GB white one in stock, and I got it 15 minutes later (as fast as I could jump in my car and get there!)

Yes she was, but she was worried if they had one in stock or not. She also started at her school on Monday too. Haven't seen her.

Aww I've missed you guys too. Yes, I started at school on Monday, but this placement is LESS than ideal, too. Love the teacher, lvoe the kids, but from now until my semester ends, they're in the computer lab every single day. Yes. Until their Christmas break. Doing an individual project. So there are no opportunities for me to observe her teaching and there are no opportunities for me to teach myself. I have to come in during MY vacation and teach to get any experienced. Crappy.

Thanks you guys for thinking of me though. :)

Yay for the phone Lindsey. A shame about school, but you can at least get to know them all and they should all be pretty happy with Xmas coming

Yeah, loads of Xmas things to do, I'm sure. At least you are in there. She still has to come up with lesson plans and at least it's ticking a box.

What's the phone like, Lyndsey? Gosh, woman, we are waiting with bated breath here?

Well! I've got the Xmas lights up in the lounge. The rope lights in the garden have been up all summer so no need to do them.

I already know maybe 4 kids' names in the hour I'll be teaching. (I'm observing two other classes) So hey, it's a start. Only like 23 more to go! lol

My phone is a dream!! I love it!! I'm sooo glad I picked the white one. It's so pretty, and I got such a cute girly little case for it.

I'm putting up my 4 foot tree in my apt this weekend. I've had it a few years but I was nervous that my cat would try to destroy it. But she's an older, well behaved cat. So I'm actually going to be festive this year, lol.

Oo err! My new puddy is not so mature. Eek! I wonder whether he will be a bad puddy tat and climb the tree. That's what Trixie did when she was an itty bitty baby.
Sorry! I was doing the cartoon character Elmer Fudge? Looks mighty pretty in here. Red berry lights mixed in with old fairy lights that have lost some of their bulbs.

BAH HUMBUG!!!!

only kidding Hayles!!!
but I do wish it only lasted a week, I hate it when I go in a shop in November and find the assistants resembling over-decorated Christmas Tree's!!

Congrats on being made a mod. When did that happen? I must have been asleep.

Yeah, stop being a humbug. I love all the Xmas lights and especially when it starts to snow as well.

I Love Christmas/Xmas! I wanted to find out how many of you celebrate it? How do your different countries celebrate? I'd love to know?

Are you with in-laws
Are you with your kids - grown-up or otherwise
Are you alone?
Are you with a partner?
What are hoping to get? Apple products? Books? Etc...
Need I go on? Anything goes...

This is a nice thread, Hayley. We will be visiting friends on Christmas Day. They will have a house full, with about 12 there. My wife says we won't go if it's snowing or icy then.

At our church, the run up to Christmas is celebrated in a magical way with a Christmas Tree Festival. Charities decorate one tree each. There are about 48 trees lining the porch and sides of the church. Each evening/day from 2nd to 11th Dec event(s) is/are held.

Apart from that, we will be seeing our nieces after Christmas Day.

It's a super time, but we cannot fail to talk about the ironies of waste and overspending at that time of year.

Our Christingle service collects for children charities and it's the real Christmas celebration. When we light all the oranges, the lights are turned off and we are all in a circle on the outer walls. Its really quite special we sing "This little light of mine'. We get bogged down with all the techie goodies but when you don't have any money, you begin to appreciate the smaller things in life.

I was just talking to Richard and wanted to show you where we used to take our kids. It was really special. It was the West Somerset railway and they have Santa visits where you go on the train and you get hot choc, tea, coffee and a mince pie. You could have stronger of course! Then we would go to the next train station where Santa was in his grotto. The kids would get their Xmas prezzies (parents would give the age and gender of kids going) and then we would go back to the station again. Such a lovely idea and keeps the old steam trains going. There are other rides like Dunster in candlelight which we have never done but I expect it's spectacular. There is a National Trust castle there which we love we love visiting but we've never been in winter.

I just watched Jack Frost with Michael Keaton. Great movie and of course so sad for Charlie when his dad has to go back to heaven. Where's the tissues?
