How do you import an Excel Spreadsheet into Ipad Contacts?

I would use MS Outlook.
Excel to Outlook. Outlook via iTunes sync to iPad.

You could also try exporting it as a csv file then importing it into Google Contacts, then syncing that with the iPad.

I'd add a couple contacts to Google first, and export those to a csv file first. That way you can see the format Google uses and see if it is compatible.

To sync Google Contacts with the iPad, you have to set the account up as an exchange account.
