External mic with iMovie for iPad?

Greetings all, first-time poster here, hoping to glean some info from you guys.

As the title of the thread implies, I'm trying to figure out whether an external USB mic will work through the Camera Kit for iMovie.

I've seen a lot of info about GarageBand and audio apps, but NOTHING on whether it works with video. I've been experimenting with video podcasting on the iPad 2, but the onboard mic isn't the greatest.

I'm hoping someone has the answer I'm looking for or would be willing to test it out... I'd rather not shell out $100 or more just to find out.

I use an m-audio USB mic with cck and iMovie, seems to work with any app that you can use the internal mic with.
