MacRumors reports that Facebook has today launched a new feature in its standalone iOS app that enables users to have group calls with up to 50 friends and family members. The new feature will use previous group chats in Facebook’s messaging service to start a voice call with the members of a group.
To start a group call, all you have to do is tap the phone icon that you should be able to find at the bottom of a chat group window once the feature is live. You can select the people that you want to be included in the group call. Hopefully when they receive their Messenger notification they will then decide to join you in the voice call.
Facebook has confirmed that up to 50 people can join in the same group call at once. And you don’t have to be there from the start of the call to join in, you can join after it has started if you arrive late to the party by clicking on the phone icon in the group chat log.
