A settlement called "Nothing" exists since 1977 in Arizona. It has no inhabitant.

The town sign reads:
... The staunch citizens of Nothing are full of Hope, Faith and Believe in the work ethic. Thru the years these dedicated people had faith in Nothing, hoped for Nothing, worked at Nothing, for Nothing.

There are over 2.5 million tombs in Vienna's Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof) - including those of Beethoven, Brahms, Gluck, Schubert and Strauss -, more than the city's live population (~ 1.8 million people).

The final Krakatoa eruption in 1883 was so powerful that it was recorded on barographs all over the world. It was still registered up to 5 days afterwards. The shock wave from that explosion reverberated around the globe 7 times.

At the edge of a canyon in Ecuador, there's the "Swing at the End of the World", next to a seismic monitoring station. Visitors who use it, swing over an abyss, without any safety measures, 2600 m above sea level.
 
In August this year, German photographer Birk Möbius took a picture of a lightning striking a plane, hitting one end of it and continuing to the ground at the other end, with a rainbow (in the background?) in Leipzig, Germany. The plane landed in Frankfurt, also Germany, there were no reported problems.
 
Madagascar has been isolated for about 88 million years. 90 % of the plants and animals can't be found anywhere else. Some ecologist refer to the island as the eighth continent. It has been classified as biodiversity hotspot.
