Developer FileMaker has just announced that its popular personal database app, Bento, will soon be disappearing from the App Store, because the company wants to focus more on its FileMaker Product Line software for iOS, stating on its official blog, “Our increased focus will create an even better experience.†So, after September 30, 2013, the Bento app for iOS and Mac will no longer be in the App Store, and technical support for the app for those who have already bought it will cease on July 30, 2014. “We thank you for your support of Bento. We know that many Bento customers will be disappointed,†says the company, but, most helpfully, CIO’s “Martin on Mobile Apps†blog has come up with a useful list of the top 3 apps that you could use instead of Bento, namely FileMaker Go 12 (free), HanDBase ($10), and the always-popular Evernote (free). So, plenty of reason not to despair if you’re currently a Bento user!
