The main Foursquare iOS app has been updated with the addition of a widget for iOS 8’s Notification Center. iDownload Blog reports that aside from the widget, the app’s 8.7 update also features personalized recommendations while logged out, meaning that you don’t even have to have a Foursquare account to get tips and recommendations about places that are near to you. Simply open the app to see recommendations, it’s as simple as that.
To install the widget once you’ve updated your Foursquare app, all you have to do is pull down the Notification Center at the top of the home screen, tap on the Today section, and then tap Edit, and you should see Foursquare in the list of available widgets. Tap on the plus sign to enable the widget.
The widget is actually very useful, providing shortcuts for accessing Foursquare’s search feature, as well as showing you nearby places to eat, drink, and have a coffee. Simply tap on the relevant icon to be taken directly to the details in the Foursquare app.
