MacStories reports on something a little unexpected here from Gameloft, a company that's well known for developing and publishing great games for the iPhone and iPad, who has now branched out into publishing a truly fascinating interactive book for the iPad entitled War in the Pacific. This really is a must if you’re a history buff, or a student or even someone who lived through the actual events captured here or who has an elderly relative who did. Quite simply, they will love this! The 56-page book, which was curated by Richard Overy, Professor of History at the University of Exeter, features photographs, maps and even facsimile documents. The foreword is contributed by Dale Dye, Senior Military Advisor to HBO’s new blockbuster series The Pacific and Band of Brothers. The app also contains original footage from 1945 featuring the battles against the Japanese Empire, as well as animated maps displaying the locations of some of the most significant moments of the Pacific campaign.
