Gardening!

love the pics! Trying to grow some stuff inside, but I just cannot seem to, I don't have space outside for a garden, so a small inside one would work, any help is welcomed =)

Hanging baskets, I've got herb shelves outside backdoor on wall! I've also go macramé pot holders which could go in window sill. Could you explain why the indoor ones are not successful? Why don't you buys plugs( little plants) instead. We bought lettuce, tomatoes etc as plugs. Really any container can be used in any window, hung or on sill. Depends onmwhat you are trying to grow?

I have mini roses that im trying to grow, and a butterfly bush, well starting it for outside, then just a few house plants, some are ok others just wont grow they keep dying,

Try to keep to the hardier plants and you should be fine. I've had disasters but I shrug my shoulders and replace until I've got it right. Houseplants die with me yet outdoors ones, mostly, survive. Trial and error!

I don't have a veg garden started yet. However, I do have strawberries, blueberries, rhubarb, 2 gooseberry bushes, 3 great apple trees and some herbs. Here are a few picts from last year.

Is this an off list thread? I was thinking of starting a gardening thread but was beaten to it. Nice to see some familiar names here.

Our garden is my wife's pride & joy and rightly so. Some pics herewith. Passers-by comment on the lawn. It's nice to have a front garden which hasn't been turned into a parking space.

Our front wall was built to my design. I constructed a decking in our back garden as a retirement project. We are enjoying eating or sitting out, weather permitting!

......... Oh, and grass is out because guess what, you have to mow it every blooming week! Keep coming with comments, this thread is struggling, too many allergic members I fear, but I welcome non gardeners as well.

Mow once a week? I wish! Ours get cut every 4 days :(. Probably because of the weed&feed :!

Hmmm guess the pict didn't transfer although it said it was uploaded and as an attachment.

I used the iPF app to upload (or is it download? Well attach) photos stored on my iPad. There is an Attachments button in the new reply window.

Thanks, the shed is full of junk and needs to be overhauled, although sumertime it can be used, theere is power line for tv, fan etc. But too full now and no space. The wooden bench is a joke, it is there for show, someone who wants to sit on it better have accident insurance with bupa lol :)

Miss danger, that is a great idea, however we get foxes every night on this garden :( next time i see one on daytime i will take a pic. I saw one fox this morning, should have taken a pic then

We have foxes too. They sit and watch us when we try to shoo them off. I don't mind them, but my wife not that much. We are getting more birds now. I think we have a wren. A couple of thrushes and blackbirds, and a great tit. Starlings vist as do magpies and the occasional Jay. Parakeets are our new dawn chorus as they fly out to feeding areas

Lovely garden Richard!

Thanks Hayles. I hope all was positive at the hospital.

Was up at 6 and took some photos which I will post later on sometime. It was calm and sunny.

I do like your garden and the recycling ideas.

Recycling

Yes, to some our garden would look like a refuse sight but if money is tight, you can't just go and buy the latest gardening gadget so you compromise and use what you've got or raid those household refuse tips, with permission of course!
Why buy one of those fancy glass cloches for £100+ when you've got sticks, bricks and plastic! Our potatoes are looking great in all our buckets, dustbins etc... Did you like our recycled windows around the carrot bed? Everything this year, crossing thumbs, fingers desperately, is growing very well. We have to water but hey, you have to do something.

We love our garden, it's not to everyone's taste but we love it!

I must remember to water the hanging baskets? I always forget them because I'm short and they are above my head!

My flowers are looking sensational! This warm weather we are having is doing wonders for them. I'm hoping Tim's storm isn't heading our way? I'd better look in my weather apps, yes, I'm that sad, I have 4 to my knowledge.

This is my tale of our 2 compost bins. They sat next to each other in a shady spot. I called one "Da" and the other "Lek."

They served us well slowly converting all we threw into them into compost.
We managed to grow potatoes in one! :) :)

Then one day I opened up "Lek" to turn over the compost. Found a rat's nest with 6 new-borns. Blood turned cold. Mother away, but I retreated for a bucket to exterminate the 6. By drowning.

My wife has stopped me from using our compost bins. So we have to buy in compost and leave food waste for the council to recycle. :( :(
