Getting error msg when restoring Ipad 2

Hello All,

I purchased an iPad from my buddy who is currently deployed overseas. Well I went to restore the iPad in order to delete all of his information and I continue to get an error msg. After a little research I found out that most likely the iPad 2 was jail broke b/c of the type of error I am getting. I also read about using iFaith and TinyUmbrella, but SHSH needed to be saved. Can someone give me some advice about how to restore this iPad. It is stuck on the black screen showing the Itunes symbol and I don't has SHSH (whatever that is) saved.

If you look at this tutorial and follow it exactly, you should end up with a fully functioning iPad running on iOS 6.
