Google today announced its new Gboard keyboard app exclusively for iOS. You can use Gboard to search for and send information, GIFs, and emojis, among other things, all from your phone’s keyboard.
In a blog post announcing the new app, Google explained that Gboard has been designed for situations such as when you’re texting a friend and want to send them the address of the restaurant you’re planning to go to, and instead of having to leave the Messages app to google the restaurant details and then copy them, return to the Messages app and paste the details to your friend, you can now just use Gboard instead.
Very simply, Gboard enables you to skip all the aforementioned long-winded steps and simply search from your keyboard, and then tap once on the card that appears with the details you require to send it to your friend.
Other ingenious uses for the Gboard include searching for emojis by simply typing in words such as “dancer” for example. Or you can search for a GIF to express a particular emotion.
Aside from these very useful search features, Gboard also has Glide Typing, whereby you can type words by simply sliding your finger to each key rather than tapping. And you can use Gboard in any number of apps, not just Messages, including YouTube and Mail.
