MacRumors reports that Google Maps has just been updated with three new quick-access tabs that have already been available on Android for more than a year, namely Explore, Driving, and Transit tabs.
Situated at the bottom of the screen, the new tabs will provide more details when you swipe up on them.
Swiping up on the Explore tab reveals details about the surrounding area, places to eat and drink, and the location of nearby gas stations, ATMs, convenience stores, drug stores and so on.
Swiping up on the Driving tab provides you with a local area traffic summary that includes the latest news on any delays that might affect how long it will take you to reach your destination. The tab also shows you the ETA for your home or work address, but you have to save those details first in Google Maps’ settings to activate this feature.
Last, but definitely not least, the transit tab reveals a really useful list of bus and train times in the local area.
