Cult of Mac reports today that Google has just updated its Translate iOS app with iPad support. Now, you can translate away to your heart’s content on your iPad’s lovely big display. If you haven’t already availed yourself of the really excellent app, then now’s your chance. It enables you to translate words and phrases between 63 languages. For non-Latin script languages, such as Chinese and Japanese, the app will spell out their translation in Latin characters so that it can be read phonetically. For 17 of the languages, you can simply speak the phrase that you want translated instead of having to type it out and hear back the translation in 24 of the languages. The app also has a facility to "star" your favourite translations so that you can access them quickly. And if you’re out and about in a foreign country and want to show people a particular phrase to make yourself understood, you can display the translation in full-screen mode for easy viewing.
