Rick - Pleased my info was of assistance.

Kevin - I have used Tomtom for several years, but competition has now made it look rather expensive. When we travelled up the Eastern Seaboard I used both Tomtom and Navigon, and the clear winner by a large margin was Navigon. It was cheaper to buy, gave better route options, has first class TTS (speaks the name of a road you need to turn into, not just 'turn left ahead'), has far better graphics and was very easy to use. Couldn't ask for more really.

I have been trying out 'Navfree' since I got home, and for a Navigation program designed for the iPad it is a good start - a bit 'clunky', but for free it can't be a bad deal.
