Hello, I'm new to the forum. Could someone direct me to the "proper" place to ask a question about Imessage? My wife and I each have Iphone 4s's, and we recently bought our first Ipad. When I message my wife's phone from the ipad, it comes to both of our phones, like a group message. Responses from either phone also go to the Ipad, and the other phone. I'd like to know how to set our devices up so we can message the ipad individually from each phone, and vice-versa.

If it matters, we've only got one apple ID.

You need to associate imessage on the ipad with a different email. Then you can use this email to imessage the ipad
