For Harry Potter fans who have been wanting to read their favourite books on their favourite ereaders it’s been a very long wait, as up until now they have not been available for purchase via the usual ebook outlets such as Amazon or iBooks. Now, however, that’s all about to change, as Reuters reports that Potter author J.K. Rowling has finally made her books available in the ebook format. She’s still not letting either Amazon or iBooks have them though, or any other ebooks retailer, for that matter. Instead, the seven books, which have sold around 450 million copies around the world, will only be available at the new Pottermore online store. The store is the first part of what will eventually be a much larger website, due to be launched very shortly. Although the books are currently only available in English, Reuters says that French, Italian, German and Spanish versions are on their way, with other language versions also planned for future release.
