Hello, all.
I was just reading a great post on this site that someone wrote a while ago, it was quite an extensive report about how it is using the iPad in other places around the world.
Very useful post.
Anyway, I thought I'd join as I absolutely love my ipad2, and have looked to this site for advice a few times.
I don't talk all that much, and may not be a regular poster, but I'm about to go to Japan for the second time, and so I thought I might prepare to write something about how that goes, as this time I have my iPad.
I'm planning to attempt to keep my iMac at home in England on an automatic wake and sleep cycle so that I can remotely control it from Japan, which I'm sure will be completely problem free...
So, yes, that's it for now, of course I'd love to hear more if anyone has experience and tips on doing this.

Have a look at Splashtop, it's a great remote desktop app.

Thank you both.
Yes, I'm going to be using, Splashtop.
I already use it at home, and I'm looking forward to seeing if it works from Japan, assuming I can rely on the mac to wake and sleep when I want it to, waking macs from sleep remotely when you want them to seems to be a problem, so i'm going to have to set the wake and sleep setting for everyday. Not ideal, but I think it's great that we can even think about controlling a home computer from so far away, so easily.
I'll Definately report on how it goes.
