Help with a gaming pc

I'm looking to buy a gaming pc and don't have a clue where to start, I've looked at some Alienware pc's that have mixed
reviews and a lot of people say to build your own but I know nothing about pc's. If it helps at all I'm only interested in
playing games like BF3 and skyrim and games of this type and not so interested in wow and Diablo type games. Any help and advice about what to do would be greatly appreciated. Like I said I know nothing about pc's so if your advice is to
build my own could it be explained what I need to buy in a way I can understand please and thank you.
