Help with Upgrade & App Synch

Upgraded one of my devices to new OS and it killed everything in sight. So I am nervous now about upgrading my iPAD. I have been adding new apps to my iPAD that do not appear on my computer. Want to synch before trying another OS upgrade but when I go to synch, I am warned that the computer desktop apps will wipe out my iPAD apps during the synch process. Is there a way I can do a one-way synch from iPAD to Desktop so that I get the desired apps on the desktop before trying to upgrade to new OS version?

You can just use "Transfer purchases".
