Hi from South Africa - new iPad user

Hi, I just acquired an iPad (sadly not an iPad 2), and am so loving it. I need some help please. I cannot send mail through my smtp server, but have no problem receiving mail. Does any one have any ideas please?

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

I saw your problem with sending mail through your SMTP server. A couple of questions!! Are you working on your home network - i.e. are you linked to your service provider's mail server on their network, or are you currently working on another network - in which case it might be the 'Port 25 relay problem'? Does your SMTP server only work on Port 25 or can it use SSL and run on Port 465 or similar? If you need to send mail from a 'foreign' network, then you need to switch to SSL so that you can log-in securely to send mail. Let us know and we'll try and help
