Hey everyone I recently got myself an iPad 2 and I must say this thing is hectic. It is rather much more complicated and secure than the Android system.
I have been creating custom themes, including toggles, lock screens, dialer background mods etc etc, on the android platform, most notably using the Galaxy S2. I figured I would get an ipad as I heard it is awesome. To tell you the truth I cannot make heads or tales of the device but am getting there. What I cannot fathom and maybe I am just not used to the platform yet, is the mission it takes to customize the themes on the ipad.
I have jailbroken it, tried Dreamboard, Winterboard etc etc. I just find it so irritating that I have to search through volumes of information to find the device specific tweaks to apply for the ipad 2. I mean in Cydia etc all the devices tweaks and themes are in one long list and one has to literally seperate the wheat from the chaffe in order to find the ideal tweak. I was enjoying dreamboard for a while and spent a fortune on buying themes, but then all of a sudden I got this black screen. Luckily I had activator set up and could uninstall dreamboard and then just reboot/respring.
Anyways, I am sure the knowledge and love for this device will increase with time and knowledge. Looking at the file structures it seems there is so much potential for this device in terms of customization. The issues creap in when trying to overcome restrictive and closed source apple software. One tweak has a direct impact on another and hence ultimately on performance and ram. But then again I know I just need to get android out of my blood and start injecting some Mac Goodness. Thanks all for the forum I am sure I will learn a lot here and eventually make my iPAD look nothing like the dull grey and white iPad it is now. Seriously wish I could just plug a wire in my brain and learn all there is to know about Apple software so I can get around it's restrictive nature.
But anyways, this is the first bit of Apple hardware I have ever owned and as I customize the heck out of everything I own(even my dog), I am sure I will have this baby up and smoking in no time. Cheers.
