Hi All

I joined here because I notice that you have really good Hay Day threads and I'd like to join in the discussions.

I have two ipads - one is the original model first release, and then I bought top of the range new ipad just a couple of months ago. My family said that I was mad to shell out so much money on a new ipad, when I had a "perfectly good one already". Must admit that I thought they were probably right at first as the only obvious difference seemed to be the camera. But now that I have got into playing Hay Day - boy do I notice the difference! It plays really smooth and fast on the new model, whereas on the old one it is choppy and slow. The Hay Day magazine pages take an age to flick between. 'Flick' isn't really the word for such a slow action. If I'd come to the game just on my old ipad, I wouldn't have stuck with playing it.

Now my sister is interested in using my old ipad to play Hay Day. But I don't know if there's anything we can do to improve the performance. Do you think it would help if I restored the old ipad? Or is it just that it's an old model, and she has to accept that it is much slower?

Looking forward to chatting to people here.

Hi there and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, etc. and iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the forum rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store and a great tutorial/guide for using the IPF App here http://www.ipadforums.net/new-membe...sistance/107524-ipad-forums-app-tutorial.html

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://help.apple.com/ipad/6/ and here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for iOS 4, 5, 6, etc.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/ and for iPhone users, come and join in the discussion over at http://www.iphoneforums.net

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

It would be a very big difference from the first iPad to the new one, also from just iPad 1 to iPad 2 like I have.

Your first generation iPad will always be slower I'm afraid but restoring it may make it that bit more responsive. Also which IOS is it on? the iPad 1 will only update to 5.1.1.
There is a little maintenance you can do on any iPad which will keep it running at its best. Close apps completely regularly, a restart occasionally and then a reset of your iPad. For an ipad 1 especially to avoid crashes because of ram issues.....Delete your History and Cookies and Website Data in Safari through Settings and limit your Location Services.

I hope your sister enjoys Hay Day like you do, it's a very popular game here.

3 very informative threads from which you will learn many tips and shortcuts for the IPad.

Hi Leelai
Thank you for your answers to my questions. Much appreciated - as I followed your suggestions & it's made a noticable difference.
I first did the cookies/history bit which made some difference, and then heartened by this I gave it a full restore, dumped a load of little used apps, and ensured up to date IOS. Much better, although as you say, never will be the same as the new ipad (but then again I guess I'd be upset if it was as good as my latest purchase!)

Thanks for your help & I'll check out the threads you suggest.

Well I'm glad it has made a noticeable difference for you and your sister......a little maintenance does go a long way in keeping your experience on the iPad a better one! Thank you for letting us know also!

I hope to get the next new iPad, then I'll really see what you and others are really enjoying with the retina screen! Can't wait for that time!

Enjoy!
