Since the launch of the iPad 2, the Smart Cover has become one of the key accessories that helps keeping your tablet safe. The cover is uber slim, doesn’t make your iPad bulk and is made of polyurethane or aniline-dyed Italian leather. Either way, the Cover has been present in the latest variations of the iPad including the iPad mini, but some might argue that its design and features haven’t seen a revamping since it was first introduced.
Som how could the concept of Smart Cover be improved? We have a few ideas. For example, the Smart Cover could act as a wireless charger for the iPad. Apple has already published a patent along these lines which is called “Integrated inductive charging in protective coverâ€. Charging your iPad while on the move will certainly appeal to all kinds of tablet users all over the world. But the question remains, how much will the Smart Cover bulk up the tablet, in order to perform the task?
Another idea for a Smart Cover improvement comes from the very popular eco environment. Apple might create an alternate source of feeding the iPad, by implementing solar cells within the Cover which would be in charge of harvesting energy. A flexible display might be in the cards, as well, according to another uncovered Apple patent that reads:
“This future Smart Cover will include the following: a flexible flap having a size and shape in accordance with the size of the iPad’s display where at least a portion of the flexible flap is covered by a flap display configured to present visual information.â€
Other theories include an e-Reader Cover screen or a Built-in keyboard. .
