How will I know when new updates for my ipad2 are available.

iOS updates will show up if you check at Settings -> General -> Software Update. This will show any OTA updates available. I believe a major update like iOS 5 to iOS 6 will have to be done via iTunes on your PC or Mac. When it's available, it will pop up a message when you sync your iPad.

If you login to this forum on a regular basis, you'll see the OS update as a news item or you'll see a member posting about it. You can also go to your settings app go to general, go to software update. If you are wifi or cell data connected iPad will check for you and let you know.
