How often you connect your iPad to computer (iTunes)?

I wish I could say never but I have a large music collection and like to change it on iPhone and iPad but every blooming time there is an issue with the wifi and I get an error saying the settings weren't saved. What does this mean? I always get this and then have to sync via wire to finish the job.
