How to enable voice dictation?

I’ve turned “Enable Voice Dictation” to “on” by moving the slider to the right, showing the green area to the left of the slider button.

While I see the microphone icon on the on-screen keyboard, it’s grayed out. Pressing it doesn’t initiate a voice dictation session.

Are there more steps I need to take to enable voice dictation on an iPad Pro?

Make sure it’s not restricted (Settings - Screen Time - Content & Privacy Restrictions - Allowed Apps).

This feature needs a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular). Try disabling them, then restart your iPad and turn them on again.
