How to read books offline?

Need help figuring out which app lets me read books offline? I tried pocket fiction...but didn't like it..mostly cause I had no idea how to work it. So something like kindle or iBooks but where it lets me buy books and read them offline..if there is such an app as that.

iBooks is an offline reader. If you need any help with it, just ask. I use it offline all the time.

Oh ok thanks. I didn't want to buy books and find out that I can't read it outside f wifi. But yeh anyways thanks.

How to read ebooks offline?

Question for KevinJS. With ibooks reader, can you get books from Gutenberg.org and read them (you said it works offline to read them)? Which file format should I download? I have an iPad2 that someone gave me and am new to this. Thanks.

Most of the Gutenberg library is already available in the iBooks Store, and the titles are free. Just do a search.

But if you want to get books directly from the Gutenberg library, use the ePub format. When you download it using Safari you should get an Open In option. Choose iBooks and it will be loaded into the app.

Been a while since I've done this, so my instructions are a bit sketch. If you have problems let me know and I'll see if I can put together something a bit more detailed.

Hold in mind that side loaded books don't back up in iBooks, so if you want a copy as backup be sure to save one to your computer or a cloud service.

There's a Gutenberg app in the AppStore. It's not affiliated with Project Gutenberg but you can download any book in the Gutenberg library for offline reading in the app. Here's the link to the app in the AppStore. https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/free-audiobooks-ebooks-library/id585534682?mt=8

I prefer to read books on the iPad.The Kindle and Nook apps work fine for reading, as does the iBook app, and I believe that most free Gutenberg E-books are available in the iBook store and other ePub documents can be opened automatically in iBooks. The Kindle and iBook apps seem to work better when copying and saving passages to Notes or Pages than the Nook app.

I use both iBooks and the Kindle app. Both read offline great and yes you can get Gutenberg books into iBooks.
As Twerppoet said when in Safari, on project Gutenberg, click the link for your book in ePub or PDF format. Once opened in safari tap the page then you will see a "open in iBooks" in the upper right.

I did not think you could read Ibooks with DRM offline. I don't know though...

DRM does not affect your ability to read offline. At least not in any of the ebook readers I have, which includes Kindle, iBooks and Nook.

The purpose of DRM is to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of files, ebooks in this case. While some game company recently, and infamously, tried to use an online verification requirement for play/use, I don't know of any ebook company or format that has done this.
