What's new

I need help getting pass a passcode

So I have a Ipad Generation 3, I used it for an entire year at a college and had it jailbroken
I used a app from cydia to record lectures for that whole year.
Then after college I put the Ipad away for a few months while I moved to my next University.
I just took it out and realized I don't remember the passcode.

Is there a way to get the files off? Or some way of recovering after restoring?

This is really bothering me. I treasure the lectures and I don't have them backed up anywhere else.
Worst comes to worst i just keep guessing at my passcode and hope I remember it. I allready have a list of passcodes to try when it gets done being disabled (Im hoping it doesn't erase.)

I could really use some help

Hi, welcome to iPF!

This works for the latest software, which is iOS 7x:
If you enter the wrong passcode 6 times in a row, the iPad will be disabled temporarily, but not erased, so you could try some of the passcodes you remember. In iOS 7, there's an option to erase the device after 10 failed attempts. It has to be enabled to do this, though.

If you still can't access your iPad, there's nothing else left to do than restore it, or use recovery mode, which will update it to the latest software, in case it isn't yet: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212

You could try software (for PC or Mac) to recover the data from your device afterwards. Searching for "iPad data recovery" will bring a few results which might help.
